About this item
A Victorian copper, ice cream bombe mould with an inset lid. This would be partially filled with ice cream and the lid was then put in place, which made a deep well in the centre of the mould. This was filled with either a chocolate or fruit sauce which was then topped with more ice cream. When the mould was brought to the table and cut into the sauce would flow from the centre, hence the term “bombe”. This example is unmarked, but it dates from c.1880, and it is in excellent condition. The tinning, to the interior, is still in very good, bright, usable condition.
Dimensions: Height 13.8cm. Diameter 13cm.
