About this item
A huge, French copper cake mould. This is well made, from quite a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. The design consists of two tiers of wrythen fluting. Larger cake moulds were often fairly simple in design as, with larger cakes, it was difficult to unmould the busier designs. The mould is in very good condition but the tinning to the interior is worn. A small hole has been pierced in the rim so that it can be hung and this was probably done at the time of manufacture. There is also a small letter ‘C’ stamped on the rim.
