About this item
A very nice example of a late 18thc lambing chair of a useful small size...it is made from ash, elm and alder and has gained a very good colour with a natural patination that you always get with "aged" elm and ash ....the top rail of the chair is nicely shaped as are the two arms and supports..... the "rockers" have been added in Victorian times as it would have spent a lot of its life standing on damp floors in the "lambing" shed or the cottage / farmhouse kitchen, where the floors had no damp proofing....!
English / Yorkshire Dales. C1770-90.
