A fine 17thc English bronze mortar, from the reign of Charles 11, decorated twice with a rare motif of a crowned double-headed eagle ....which is illustrated in Michael Finlay's book on English Decorated Bronze Mortars on page 78 illustration 123....he lists it as coming from a London "unidentified" foundry .... the mortar is in excellent condition with a good colour.
