    About this item

14kt Gold Full Hunter Fob Pocket Watch in original box Made in Switzerland circa 1890    WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!

This is a beautiful 14kt yellow Gold (0.583**) full hunter fob watch made circa 1890 by Swiss watchmaker J S Calame Robert.   The watch comes in its original box making it a perfect gift or collector’s item!

DIAL: The white enamel dial has bold black Roman numerals with outer minute divisions and blued hands.

MOVEMENT: The keyless wind cylinder movement has 10 jewels. The watch is currently functioning well, but due to its antique nature, we cannot guarantee precise accuracy.

CASE: The watch lies in an intricately designed 14kt gold case with a monogram free cartouche. The gold curvette reads Remontoir, cylindre 10 rubis, JS Calame Robert Geneve. The case is hallmarked for Switzerland and numbered 301886.

This watch has been oiled and cleaned by my watchmaker and currently shows the correct time.

Signed: J S Calame Robert Geneve

    Diameter 33mm    Weight 29.90g

**14Kt gold is produced using 58.3% pure gold, hence the “583” stamp on this pocket watch.   However, the most commonly used stamp for 14kt gold is 0.585 because many manufacturers produce gold slightly purer than 58.3%.

    About J. Calame-Robert

The Swiss manufactory J. Calame-Robert was registered as early as 1880, and quickly became well-known due to their production of high-quality chronometers. Most of the company’s watches used ‘ebauche’ blanks, that were then finished and assembled at the J. Calame-Robert factory. In the book Swiss Timepiece Makers 1775 – 1975 by Kathleen H. Pritchard the company James Calame-Robert is mentioned.  Little more is known about the company up until 1925, when it was taken over by Jules C. Breitmeyer, and renamed J.C. Breitmeyer successeur de James Calame-Robert.
