    Joseph Gott 1785 - 1860 was a 19th century British sculptor. He was apprenticed to the eminent sculptor John Flaxman in London from 1798 - 1802. He joined the Royal Academy Schools ln 1805. In 1822 Sir Thomas Lawrence gave him a letter of introduction to Antonio Canova ln Rome. Thereafter he spent most of his remaining life in Rome
