Bubbles Pears Print After John Everett Millais Antique Portraits

This beautiful rare and sought after '''' Original Pears '''' antique print Preserved Under Glass is Titled ''''''''Bubbles '''' and is housed in an original late Victorian gilded wooden ribbed frame with gilt slip and all sealed.

The subject was originally painted by the talented artist John Everett Millais, and was given away with the 1897 Pears annual. Its housed in a lovely giltwood frame which greatly enhances the appearance

''''Bubbles'''' was painted in 1885-6 and shows a boy blowing bubbles with a pipe and a bowl of soap suds. The boy was the artists grandson, Willie James, aged about four.

The young boy grew up and in later life became an Admiral.

To get around the problems of painting the bubbles, the artist had a glass sphere specially manufactured. Millais originally titled his painting ''''A Childs World'''' but it was later changed to ''''Bubbles''''.
