This pocket watch was made by the E. Howard & Co pocket watch, Boston, circa 1860
This is a series II gilt key wound / key set movement
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate 15 jewel movement has a lever escapement. The movement is signed “E Howard & Co, Boston, Reeds Patent, Nov 24 1857” # 2730 and is in 80% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a coin silver full hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open to just under 90 degrees when you press the pendant in. The case has coin edged sides, light engine turning, floral engraving and a vacant cartouche on the back. The top quality case also has gold hinges. The case is in 90% mint condition – there is light wear to the case but still a superb example
Dial – the white enamel has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Louise”. The dial is in 75% mint condition – several hairlines with a small chip on the sub seconds
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key
The watch measures 57mm wide x 15mm deep
