A French newspaper / magazine stand, likely used in cafes.
Purchased in Paris from a dealer who sold just picture frames and paintings and used it for his art magazines. We have tried to buy it numerous times but was never for sale as it was too useful for him. This was until our latest trip where he said "you ask and ask always so politely - now it's yours."
With 5 removable, metal inserts, allowing for upright books or newspapers / magazines.
