About this item
A large, Victorian, pewter sorbetiere. Sorbetieres were your early form of ice cream maker and, in the correct hands, ice cream can be made by this method in less time than it takes in its modern equivalent. The ice cream mixture was put into the sorbetiere which, in turn, went into a bucket of ice. It was then turned frequently, and stirred with a spuddle, and the ice cream can set within as little as 15 to 20 minutes. This example dates from c.1860 and is still in good, usable condition.
Dimensions: Diameter 12.8cm. Height 31.5cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
