An extremely rare iron early latch lifter this was made circa late 1500s or early 1600s by a blacksmith probably fitted to a farmhouse door, no key was needed with this one just a hole or slot on the other side of the door and a finger inserted to move the lever that lifts the latch and opens the door a simple mechanism as used for century`s .
