DE0965 A RECLAIMED OAK GLAZED EXTERNAL CARDIFF DOOR

A handsome, reclaimed, oak external Cardiff door that is likely to date to the early half of the 20th Century. The door is well made, with mortise and tenon joints, and has a nice design with a large raised and fielded panel on the external face. There is a space for a letterbox plate. The top of the door has the traditional nine panels that are glazed, with a large central panel, rectangular border sections and small square corner sections. The door is currently glazed with textured ripple glass. The glass is unlikely to meet current safety standards and must be checked by purchaser before use. If the glass does not meet standards it MUST be changed before use. We can re-glaze the door for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The external face of the door has a stained or varnished finish and the internal face has been painted. The varnish has some fading and the paint has chipping. Purchaser may wish to sand and re-finish the door to suit. 

The door is antique and has some signs of age and wear, as expected. The oak has some knocks and chips, mainly to the edges and corners. The base panel has a large crack and some of it has raised up. The crack is stable and fairly firm but we could repair the panel, if required, for an extra charge. Please note, repairing the panel is quite a large job, please contact us for details and a quote. The doors has some holes and marks from hardware removal. The door has a 2-3mm bow in the centre. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has a very nice appearance that would be fantastic for a period property and it will make a very desirable item for the home.
