About this item
This beautiful jacket dates to the first half of the C20 and is a jacket from the Akha hilltribe. They originated from Tibet but are mostly now found living in Laos, Myanmar, northern Thailand and SW China.
The jacket is a dark indigo colour and is made from hand spun and hand loomed cotton. It is decorated with very tiny cross stitches is silk which are also coloured with natural dyes. It is a rare and beautiful thing and a wonderful record from a vanishing culture. I've mounted the jacket on heavyweight linen stretched over canvas.
If you would like a Perspex box to cover the jacket, this can be arranged. These are useful to dust off and protect from fading by UV light.
