About this item
A very pure and tender rendition of a female nude. In this extraordinarily fresh watercolour, we see the artist's model warming herself by a large stove. The work is elegant in its simplicity.
It is a work by Tito Lessi dating from circa 1890. Lessi was born in Florence, Italy in 1858 and studied at the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts, under Enrico Pollastrini and Antonio Ciseri. He worked in France - where the present work was acquired - between 1884 and 1896. In Paris, he was awarded a gold medal at the Salon d'Automne and he went on to obtain other important awards in Munich and Leipzig. Lessi died in hi snative Florence in 1917.
