About this item
A fine Parisian street scene by Eugène Galien-Laloue, titled Le Quai de la Tournelle, depicting an elegant riverside view animated by figures, flower sellers and horse-drawn carts along a rain-washed boulevard. The composition is enlivened by shimmering reflections on the wet pavement, soft autumnal light and distant architectural landmarks, all rendered with Galien-Laloue’s characteristic delicacy and precision.
Watercolour and gouache, signed, and presented in an impressive and richly carved gilt frame with an original titled artist’s plaque. The painting is in very good condition and is a strong example of Galien-Laloue’s highly sought-after Paris views.
