    About this item

    William Gilbert Foster (1855-1906) was a senior member of the Staithes Group of artists. He exhibited widely and spent many years living and painting at Runswick Bay on the Yorkshire coast. "The Dusk that Follows Evensong" is a very fine example of his work. This atmospheric oil painting on canvas measures 20"x 30" and is signed lower left and inscribed with the title on an old label on the back. It is framed in the old gilt frame giving an overall size of 30"x 40".
