This is a fabulous large original late 18th Century Oil Portrait Painting depicting a possible Navy Officer who is wearing a brass button jacket with a white Cravat.
Circle of 'Sir Henry Raeburn' Ra (British 1756-1823).
The work is incredibly detailed and portrays the very smartly dressed gentleman in a half-length portrait pose.
Exceptional attention to detail, with an old period label verso with an inscription that reads:
'Portrait of Mr Bartley, father of Alexander Bartley of 243 Oxford Street, London....by Georgiani, a pupil of Raeburn'
Mounted within the large original period giltwood & gesso moulded frame.

Verso: Old period label with an inscription detailing the seater and name of the possible artist.
Condition : The work is offered in an overall superb condition commensurate with age. The period frame has many small gilt/gesso losses, some of which have been retouched & repaired. However, once hung, the looks to be in perfect keeping for a painting of the period.
