The Isle Of Wight - William Fleetwood Varley 1785-1856 Watercolour Painting

This is a superb quality Mid-19th large Watercolour Seascape Painting depicting the coastal cliffs of Black Gang Chine on the beautiful Island of the Isle Of Wight.

Painted by 'William Fleetwood Varley' (British - 1785-1856).

The fabulous image portrays the majestic cliff face with Gulls flying above and some fisherfolk on the shoreline.

Out at sea, there are fishing vessels beneath a typical unsettled British sky.

Indeed, it is a beautiful depiction and extremely lifelike.

Signed with a wonderful clear signature within a piece the beached driftwood 'William Varley'.

attached verso is the original inscribed artist label which reads, Black Gang Chine, Isle Of Wight, William Varley.

Entirely original throughout, and mounted within the original substantial gilt moulded and glazed frame.

Note: The frame would have once had a small gilt inner-slip border, and, around the leading edges of the painting, the edges of the paper can be seen upon close inspection. This minute cosmetic imperfection certainly does not detract in any way and it is mentioned more so for accuracy.
