A brilliantly executed mid-century figurative painting, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.
The composition centers around a harlequin figure in a checkered costume with coloured patches. He is elegantly seated in front of an abstracted backdrop and with a view of a full moon.
The artist’s brushstrokes are gentle and soft, reflecting a careful attention to detail and a desire to capture the quiet beauty of the moment at nightfall. He has also thoughtfully chosen to paint the work across a limited range of monochrome sepia hues, adding a timeless quality and enhancing the nostalgic ambiance of the artwork.
