FI0093 RECLAIMED CAST IRON FIRE INSERT ART NOUVEAU TILES OAK SURROUND

A fantastic, reclaimed, tiled cast iron fire insert and oak fire surround. The cast iron insert has a nice design with a repeated border with leaves that runs around the fire opening. The insert has an ornate smoke hood with flowers and leaves. The insert has retained its original shaped front bars and it comes with a decorative ash pan cover, fire stool and clay brick. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire insert has been fitted with 10 Art Nouveau tiles, 5 on each side, all of the same design with each tile having two dark green squares and two squares with flowers in the Art Nouveau style. The back of the fire insert has a registered design number. The last two numbers are hard to read but the first 3 digits are RD457 and the insert can be dated to 1905. The insert has been paired with an oak fire surround with a varnished finish. The surround could be waxed or painted over by you if preferred. 

The fire insert is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The iron has some knocks, pitting and casting marks. The back of the insert has surface rust. The tiles have crazing to the glaze and one top tile has a large scuff to the green paint. There is some slight discolouration to some of the green sections of the tiles. There are some small knocks and chips to the edges of the tiles. The back of the fire insert has some surface rust as expected. The surround has some small knocks to the oak and some slight colour variation. The clay back has some small marks. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has a lovely Art Nouveau appearance and the oak surround compliments the insert nicely. The fire insert and surround would make a fantastic addition to a fireplace.
