FI0094 A RECLAIMED CAST IRON FIRE INSERT WITH ART NOUVEAU TILES

A fantastic, reclaimed, tiled cast iron fire insert. The cast iron insert has a nice design with a repeated border with leaves and flowers. The insert has an ornate smoke hood with flowers and two Art Nouveau tiles that match the tiles on each side of the fire opening. There are 4 tiles on each side of the fire opening, all of which have the same design with each tile having two dark green squares and two squares with flowers in the Art Nouveau style. The insert has retained its original shaped front bars and it comes with a decorative ash pan cover, fire stool and clay brick. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The back of the fire insert has a registered design number but it is now unreadable. 

The fire insert is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. The iron has some knocks, pitting and casting marks. The back of the insert has surface rust. The tiles have crazing to the glaze and one tile has had a break. The tile has been repaired but the crack can still be seen. There is some slight discolouration and scuffs to the tiles. There are some small knocks and chips to the edges of the tiles. The back of the fire insert has some surface rust as expected. There is some damage to the left hand bottom edge of the ash pan cover (when looking at the insert). The clay back has some small marks. Please note the tiles are not currently fixed but will be fixed using plaster of paris, included in the price. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has a lovely period appearance and it would make a fantastic addition to a fireplace.
