FS0330 A VERY LARGE ELEGANT RECLAIMED CAST IRON FIRE SURROUND C.1900

A very large and heavy, reclaimed, cast iron fire surround. The fire surround has a handsome period design, with a large design along the crossbar. The mantel has moulded detailing around the front and side edges. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. There is a fixing lug, on either side, below the mantel for fixings to attach the fire surround to the wall. The surround has a registered design number on the back, RD364149, dating the fire surround to 1900.

The surround is in good antique condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The iron has some small knocks. The iron has some casting marks, especially to the crossbar and some pitting. The mantel has some deep pitting and there is an area with some flaking to the iron. The back of the surround has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround is of an impressive size and could be paired with a wood burner or a fire basket. The fire surround would make a fantastic statement piece for a home.
