About this item
A fine studio pottery slipware salt pig made by renowned Warwickshire potter Paul Young, a master of the art of slipware. It is in a traditional salt pig shape with opening to the front. There is a knob on top and a strap handle to the rear. It is made of wheel-thrown terracotta decorated with liquid slip in a stylised foliate pattern. The piece does not bear the potter's signature, but was purchased from his studio about 25 years ago. This serviceable and decorative piece would look great in any kitchen.
It is in good condition with just a little crazing to the glaze.
