BEEHIVE ~ INDUSTRY
Ralph Stevenson Potteries
Staffordshire, England c. 1825 - 1827
This is a stunning dark blue transferware platte with a pearlware glaze . The plate measures a large 10 1/8 inches wide. The piece is impeccably potted and light bodied.
The platter depicts a beehive buzzing with activity, in the center of a lavish flower garden with an urn of flowers. A bold yet delicate floral border trim finishes off the piece. The decoration is very rich, with very little white space remaining.
The piece is in great condition with a few stray light utensil marks.
