    About this item

Scottish Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers
Of typical Scottish design with three short and three long graduated drawers, each with original brass swan neck handles, locks throughout, the top centre drawer with a key and no handle, as designed to maintain the aesthetic and keep the symmetry of the handles. The top with a double moulded edge and the drawers with boxwood stringing.  Stands on bracket feet, supported underneath by laminated shaped brackets.  The back of the chest of panelled construction (rather than the typical planked back).  A chest of excellent quality in the Chippendale style constructed in the best cuban mahogany, this design is comparable to examples produced by the eminent Scottish cabinetmaker Francis Brodie.
    Scottish, circa 1780
