Rare Antique Copper & Silver Barrel cocktail shaker & stand C1920

A fantastic and incredibly rare American Prohibition Era hammered copper and silver-band giant cocktail shaker with original cradle, of extra-large proportions, Circa 1920/30s. One end of the barrel unscrews to reveal the large chamber which has a silver strainer across half of the top for easy pouring.

This unusual piece of antique barware was crafted when Prohibition rules came in which make it illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making. If a cocktail shaker didn’t look like a cocktail shaker, it was ‘an ornament, Officer’… 

In good original antique condition, this enormous ‘Barrel’ is 32cm long.
