    About this item

A decorative, reclaimed, Victorian bedroom combination fire. The fire is well made with a lovely design with an ornate domed smoke hood and there is a pretty flower design along the crossbar and flowers that run down the legs. There is a border that surrounds the fire opening and there is a pretty design above the fire brick. The mantel has stepped detailing. The fire retains its original front bars, grill and fire brick. The fire has two fixing lugs, one on either side, under the mantel for fixings to attach the fire to the wall. The fire has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and some repaired damage, as expected of antique items. The mantel had some damage to the left back corner but this has been repaired to a high standard. The edge of the mantel has some small chips and signs of the break and the filler, although not very noticeable, can be seen when looking. The iron has some casting marks and some pitting, especially to the mantel. The fire brick has some slight wear and there is a small gap between the top of the fire brick and the fire. The back of the fire has surface rust, as expected. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush with the mantel and one wont tighten completely. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very nice example of Victorian design and it would add great period character to a fireplace.
