FC0207 A DECORATIVE RECLAIMED ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE

A stunning reclaimed cast iron Art Nouveau combination fire for decorative purposes. The fire is very ornate and has a lovely design typical of the era, with a large sun on the cross bar, surrounded by flowers and scrolling leaves that also run down the legs. The surround has a nicely shaped smoke hood and retains the original front bars and grill. The mantel has moulded front and side edges. The fire has two fixing lugs, one on each side under the mantel, for adding fixings to attach the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a good finish. The back of the fire has a registered design number, RD385522, dating the fire to 1902.

 The fire is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and some slight damage, as expected. The cast iron has some knocks, pitting and casting marks. The fire has some buckling to the fire cheeks, with one side having some cracks and holes. The fire is now suitable for DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. The back of the fire has surface rust. The fire brick has some chips and surface cracks. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a lovely example of Art Nouveau design and will add great character to a fireplace.
