About this item
An Art Deco style French ink stand, dating to approximately the 1930s. The base is made of beautifully veined and polished black Portoro marble, and has a trough at the front in which to rest a pen. This is topped with an ink well and a figure of an Alsatian dog, both made out of patinated spelter. The dog is nicely modelled. The outside of the ink well is decorated with a relief moulded geometric design. It has a hinged lid and a Bakelite liner. The inside of the lid is marked 'Made in France'.
