    About this item

A very unusual stickpin featuring a tiny lampworked glass model of a WW2 Spitfire plane. The plane is beautifully made out of glass in various colours with gold inclusions on the wings and, for something so tiny is very detailed. It has red, white & blue roundels on its wings, a tiny propeller at the front, wing guns, tail rudder and pilot's canopy. The plane is attached to a steel pin to be worn on a tie or lapel.

The Spitfire was a fighter aircraft used by the RAF during WW2. It is perhaps best known for the role it played in British success during the Battle of Britain in 1940. This piece was probably made to mark the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1990.

The stickpin is in excellent condition.
