This is an English 9K gold Benson pocket watch with an English movement.
The watch has clear assay marks for 9K and hallmarks for London 1924
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “J W Benson, 62 & 64. Ludgate Hill, London, Best London Make, M5205”. The movement is in 80% mint condition – many small marks and stains. Please note this is purely cosmetic and the watch’s ability to function is not compromised by these marks.
Case – the movement comes in a solid 9K gold open face case, which has a hinged back and snap on bezel by JWB. The case coin edged sides and engine turning on the back. The case is in 90% mint condition – light wear only
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. The dial is signed “J W Benson, London” and is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 47.5mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch comes in its original leather J W Benson box lined with silk and velvet
