A fabulous 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror finely hand carved and of exceptional quality. The mirror glass plate of archtop form is set within a stunning moulded and fluted giltwood frame with elegantly simple alternating borders of lambs tongue, beaded row, flowerhead and hatch weave detail throughout. Surmounted with an elaborate pierced centred cartouche composition comprising of centred cabochon with bead and scroll detail flanked with scrolling foliate and intricately detailed flowerheads, finely carved in high relief. The shaped platform base with a further beautiful arrangement of flowerheads, foliate, scrolls and acanthus leaf motif detail to the each side.
