A stunning and unusual 19th Century giltwood tryptch overmantel mirror, finely hand carved of exceptional quality and low and wide proportions. The moulded and fluted giltwood frame with intricately detailed foliate motif detail throughout is surmounted with an overhanging inverse breakfront pediment above a deep panelled frieze with beautifully detailed ring turned pilaster column with acanthus leaf, finely hand carved in high relief, flanked with c-scrolls. The three compartmental bevelled mirror glass plates below are set within a lovely ebonised and reeded border flanked with a further pair of elegantly simple, ring turned pilaster columns with further acanthus leaf detail, supported on shaped platform base.
