This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is a lovely gilt Georgian seal
The seal has a gilt round base is set with a dark black stone. This is engraved with a detailed intaglio of a butterfly and heart and the words “Tu Me Ferm” – literally translated as you close me (on Google) but the meaning is “You complete me”.
The seal has a carved dome base and a beautifully carved strut handle with suspension loop
The seal measures 21mm x 11mm x 9mm
The seal is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example
