A stunning early Victorian rosewood chiffonier with open bookcase from the renown makers Freeman's of St. Andrews, Norwich. The shaped back having well carved applied mouldings and shelf supported by turned and carved supports. The figured rosewood top above a beautifully carved frieze with the open bookshelves below. The rosewood faced adjustable shelves retain the original hinged tooled leather dust protectors. The bookcase section is flanked by 2 cupboards, the doors having superb turned columns with stylised tulip carving and adjustable shelves. The arched slate panels have well executed oil paintings of a large selection of British flowers. The whole stands on an inverted breakfront plinth and is in excellent condition with working brass locks and keys. Dimensions:- Max.Height…61’’/ 155cm. Width…68’’/ 173cm. Depth…19.25’’/ 49cm. Base Height…36.5’’/ 92.5cm. Delivery to most of U.K. mainland £75. Worn labels to the back. The Freeman family were well known in Norwich and had a shop in London from the late 18th & 19th Century.
