From 1836 to 1850 their horses were painted in different colours, however in 1851 Queen Victoria visited the Collinson's workshop and rode a dapple grey horse. Since then, in honour of the royal visit they have only been made in the iconic dapple grey. Collinson's has supplied high-end London stores, like Harrods and Hamleys since it's earliest years.
