    About this item

A pair of handsome, reclaimed, oak glazed bronze casement doors, C.1910. The doors are constructed in solid oak, with mortise and tenon joints. The doors have a very nice appearance with a raised panel at the bottom of each door. The panels are recessed on the internal face. The oak has attractive medullary rays. The top of the doors each have six bronze casement panels, glazed with clear glass. The doors have only ever been waxed and therefore they retain the lovely original colour of the oak. The doors were originally used as internal swing doors and the outer edges are slightly rounded and there is evidence of the brass shoes that were set into the base of the doors. There are now cut outs on the outer base edges of the doors where the brass shoes have been removed. For an extra charge we could cut the door heights to 207cm (2070mm) and use the wood cut away to patch repair the remaining cut out visible, therefore the patch will colour match with the rest of the door. Please contact us for details and a quote. The doors are ideal for internal use but could be used externally if patch repairs are carried out and the doors are finished with a finish suitable for external use.

The doors are in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected. There are some small knocks, scratches and chips to the oak, especially the door edges and corners. The doors have some holes and indentations left from door furniture removal. The inner edge of one door has a larger cut out where a lock was removed. There are some stains and slight discolouration and there is some green spray paint residue that could probably be removed with light sanding. Please see pictures for condition details. The doors have a very nice period appearance and the oak has a beautiful colour and grain. The doors would make a fantastic feature in a home.
