A VERY GOOD EUROPEAN MAIOLICA FAÏENCE CHARGER
    Unmarked but probably Portuguese
    Possibly Fervença or Coimbra

    36 cm

An very attractive majolica or faience tin-glazed earthenware bowl, charger or wall plate. Polychrome decoration with a stencilled pattern of roses.

This piece is typical of Portuguese faience and is of a known pattern generally attributed to the potteries of Fervença (though it may also have originated in Coimbra).
