It is a convex multi-beam star with the image of the head of Marianne (the symbol of France), represented in the form of the Roman goddess of fertility Ceres, in the center of the order, in a round frame with the inscription Republic of France 1870 and the motto of the organization (order) Honor and Motherland. The star is crowned with a wreath of laurel and oak leaves. The star of the Order of the Legion of Honor was established under Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. The hallmarks are located on the needle of the order: the hallmark of the workshop in a rhombus-shaped shield and the hallmark of the French standard with the head of a minerva.
