About this item
A super quality, pair of 19th century, Wedgwood, black basalt plaques. Each plaque has a different depiction of Venus and Cupid and the pair are known as “Night and Day”. Both have a large, impressed “WEDGWOOD” and one of the plaques also has a smaller impressed “WEDGWOOD” mark. They are both extremely well modelled and the reliefs are nicely undercut. They date from c.1820 and they are both in excellent condition. They are set in later, gilt frames.
