About this item
A Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip cheese plate and dome. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1895. This marks was only used for about five years around this date. It is also impressed with a letter ‘H’ which could be a workman’s mark. The base is decorated, in white relief, with a border of acorns and oak leaves and the dome has a continuous band of classical subjects. To the top is an acorn and oak leaf border matching the base and there are acanthus leaves around the handle. There is slight staining to the plate, from use, but other than that both parts are in excellent condition.
