About this item
A rare English silver and tortoise shell oval George II snuff box. Made in London by Robert Cox c.1750 (maker's mark only). The silver overlay is swirls of flowers and leaves with a Elvin like character in the middle. The base is engine turned with the letters "DMD" engraved. The six part stand away hinge is tight and the lid closes well, the interior is gilded. A good mid 18th century snuff box in excellent condition.
