About this item
Rare early Worcester round potted meat tub, c.1758, with slightly tapered sided and thickened band around the rim. Painted with the cannonball pattern around the outside with matching frieze running around the inside of the rim.
Open crescent mark to the base. Reference Branyan, French & Sandon section I.D.6.
It measures 11cm (4 1/4") wide and 6cm (2 3/8") high.
Condition is excellent with just a tiny glaze level fleabite on the rim and no other damage or restoration and the pot rings clearly. Very light surface wear. There is a little smudging of the image to a small section of the frieze and to a few of the branches on the tree beside the house.
