About this item
A really sweet little Regency porcelain basket with a very finely painted central scene of a boy fishing from the river bank. The surround is a deep underglaze blue with gilded frame and rim and a bellflower garland at either side. The unusual shaped handle has small knops along it and and finishes in the middle with 2 arabesque scrolls hanging below and feathered steps to the top. The base is quatrefoil and unmarked.
It measures 9.4cm (3 1/8") by 7cm (2 3/4") wide and 4.3cm (1 7/8") high.
Condition is very good with no damage or restoration. It is a bit wobbly but that is how it was made. There is some wear to the gold on the rim and a little to the handle. The enamelled scene is in perfect condition. There is a small firing line on the rim and another by the handle.
