FC0174 A DECORATIVE RECLAIMED ART NOUVEAU CAST IRON COMBINATION FIRE

A very decorative cast iron, reclaimed, Art Nouveau combination fire for decorative purposes. The fire is very ornate and has a design typical of the era, with poppies along the crossbar and on the legs. The fire has a pretty, shaped, smoke hood with vines and leaves. The fire retains the front bars that are curved and have scrolling finials. There are two fixing lugs, for attaching the fire to the wall, one on each side, under the mantel. The iron has been blacked and polished and the fire has a good finish. The fire is in reclaimed condition with some signs of age and some damage, as expected. The cast iron has some pitting and casting marks. The fire has some damage to the fire cheeks, inside the grill area. The damage has been strengthened with some bolts and screws but the damage can be seen. The fire is now suitable for decorative purposes only. The mantel screws do not sit totally flush. The top plate is not original and leaves some gaps on either side. The back of the fire has surface rust.  Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has a very pretty appearance and is of a good size for a bedroom. The fire is the ideal item for adding character to a fireplace.
