About this item
An unusual articulated Black Forest crocodile dating to between about 1900 and 1910. It is made up of 15 separate wooden sections joined down the middle of the body with a string, allowing the body the flex sinuously. It is beautifully carved, particularly around the head, with its open mouth, tongue and teeth. It has inset black glass eyes. A very rare and unusual piece.
Condition : The front feet have been restored, there is a repair to one of the back legs, and the tail tip has been replaced. Otherwise it is in good condition commensurate with its age.
