This pocket watch has clear hallmarks for London 1889

It is made by the esteemed company DENT, responsible for the clock mechanism in “Big Ben”

The watch runs but has not been cleaned or serviced and is sold with no warranty – please read and understand the description of the case however.

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has a lever escapement with a compensated balance and is jewelled and nicely finished especially on the raised pinion on the barrel.

The movement is signed “Dent, Watchmaker to the Queen, 33 Cockspur St, London, No 30570”. The movement is in 99% mint condition – a superb example

Case – the movement comes in an English silver two piece case. The bezel hinges open and the movement hinges out from within at the 10-11 position. The case is decorated with a family crest on the back. The case is in 85% mint condition – the back cover has a milled design and some (idiot) has taken a watch knife to this, thinking it opens from the back and created a noticeable and deep scratch. This is the reason it is being listed as un restored.

There is also some gilt wire missing from the winder.

Dial – the white enamel has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Dent, 33 Cockspur St, 30570”. The dial is in 99% mint condition

The watch is stem wound / pin set

The watch measures 49mm wide x 14mm deep

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
