This is a pair of antique hall seats. A Scottish, dark stained pine side chair in Jacobean revival taste, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
Strong heraldic overtones with appealing colour. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Dark stained pine shows fine grain interest and deep russet hues. Attractive chestnut hues to the stretched leather seat and back rest.
Prominently carved upper rail with coat of arms detail
Open lower back, framed with fluted stiles to each side
Leather slips dressed with gilt metal foliate heads
Square section legs to front and rear, decorated with foliate patera to knee. Stretcher rail to fore with shaped lower edge, detailed with circular medallions. Sash carved rails united front to rear with straight stretcher rail to rear.
This is a striking pair of antique hall seats, prominently crafted in the Jacobean revival manner. Fine colour and quality detail, ideal for the hallway or to the side of a room. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
