This is an antique campaign correspondence box. An Anglo-Indian, teak and bone inlaid colonial writing case with fitted interior, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Enticing writing box with a delightful array of hidden compartments Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Select Teak shows fine grain interest and bright russet hues Inlaid throughout with crisp, white bone for decorative appeal Lid opens to reveal a fully-featured, convertible interior Dressed with an inset lock to the drop-front fascia — key absent The fascia rests at a canted angle to provide a writing slope Two document trays offers seven and eight compartments respectively Small cabinet to rear lifting outwards, with an internal pin lever accessing a hidden drawer Dressed with a small bone handle, the field panel doors open to reveal small storage shelves Set within the fitted frame, a final hidden drawer can be extended with the pin lever Further storage offered by a pair of lift-out pen traysThis is a fascinating antique campaign correspondence box, with a charming suite of hidden compartments.
