A pretty, reclaimed, Victorian combination fire. The fire is well made with a lovely design and is of the ideal size for a bedroom or smaller reception room. The fire has an ornate smoke hood, in the "Brighton Pavilion" style, and the legs have an attractive column design. There is dentil moulding under the mantel and leaf designs at the top of the legs. The fire retains its original front bars and grill and there is a rosette design above the fire brick. The outer part of the fire has been painted white and the inner section is black but there are marks and chips and unpainted areas. Purchaser will need to have the fire stripped and re-finished to suit. The fire has a registered design number on the back, RD 289386, dating the fire to1896. The fire is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of wear and some damage, as expected of antique items. The fire has some damage to the sides where the fixing lugs have broken off. The back edge of the mantel has been cut and there is damage to the right hand side of the mantel. The damage can be seen, especially to the back edge and there is a repair to the side where some iron has been added. The fire has some surface rust, especially to the back. The fire brick has some knocks and marks. The mantel has a screw hole where a screw used to sit but now cannot as the mantel has been cut and the other screws are unpainted. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire is a very pretty example of Victorian design and it would add great period character to a fireplace.
